Which size do I need?1 moka cup = 1 espresso shot, not a mug

3 cups fills one mug or two small lattes. Pick 1 cup for a single shot, 6 cups to share.

Moka pots are measured in small espresso cups of about 50 ml. Pick your size by how many shots you drink, then top up with hot water or milk if you like a longer coffee.

SizeMakesBest for

About this pot

The classic Italian stovetop espresso maker, in colors you'll actually want to leave out on the stove. Add water and ground coffee, set it on medium heat, and in about 5 minutes you have rich, strong coffee for a latte, a cappuccino or a straight shot.

  • Real moka coffee: the same 8-sided pot Italian families have used for generations, made from food-grade aluminum that heats fast and evenly.
  • Café drinks at home: pour it over hot frothed milk for a latte, or over ice for an iced coffee.
  • Comfortable to pour: a heat-resistant handle and knob that stay easy to hold while the pot is hot.
  • Built-in safety valve: lets out extra pressure so every brew stays safe.
  • No machine, no pods: nothing to plug in and nothing to keep buying except your coffee.

Sizes: 1 cup (50 ml, 1.7 fl oz), 3 cups (150 ml, 5 fl oz) and 6 cups (300 ml, 10 fl oz). Moka cups are espresso sized, so 3 cups fills one mug or makes two small lattes.
Material: food-grade aluminum.
Works on: gas, electric and ceramic stoves, plus camping burners. Not induction.
Care: rinse with warm water and let it dry apart. Hand wash only.
In the box: 1 moka pot (boiler, filter funnel and top chamber with gasket).

Easier than it looks

Your first cup in 5 minutes

  1. Fill the base with water

Pour water into the bottom part, up to just under the little safety valve.

  2. Add your coffee

Fill the funnel with ground coffee and level it with your finger. No need to press it down.

  3. Set it on the stove

Screw the top on tight and put it on medium-low heat with the lid open.

  4. Pour when it gurgles

When you hear a soft gurgle, take it off the heat. Pour, sip, enjoy.

Coffee tasting bitter? The heat is too high. Turn it down and take the pot off as soon as it starts to gurgle.

Coffee questions, answered

What does the coffee taste like? Does it make crema?

Strong, rich and full-bodied. It's much stronger than drip coffee and close to espresso, with a bittersweet, chocolatey taste when you use a medium or dark roast. Enjoy it as a small shot or as the base for lattes, cappuccinos and iced coffee.

It makes real moka coffee, not thick espresso crema. If crema is what you love, our CremaLift Double Valve Moka Pot has a second valve that holds the coffee back until pressure builds, then pours it out with a light golden crema on top.

Which size should I get?

Moka pot cups are espresso-sized, about 50 ml each, not full mugs. The 3-cup makes one strong coffee, the 6-cup makes two mugs or lattes for two, and 9 cups and up suits a family or guests. Moka pots brew best when filled, so pick the size you'll use every day.

Can I make lattes with it?

Yes. Brew a moka shot, then pour in hot frothed milk. A small handheld frother gets you foamy milk in seconds, so you can make lattes, cappuccinos and iced coffee at home.

Does it work on an induction stove?

Check the stove line right under the sizes. Aluminum pots work on gas, electric and ceramic stoves. Induction needs a magnetic stainless steel base, so if you cook on induction, pick a pot that says it works on induction, or use an induction adapter plate.

Aluminum or stainless steel?

Both make great coffee. Aluminum is the classic Italian pot: light, heats fast, hand wash only. Stainless steel is heavier, works on induction and many models can go in the dishwasher. The details table above shows what this pot is made of.

What coffee should I use?

Any ground coffee you like. A medium-fine grind works best, a little coarser than espresso. Fill the funnel to the top and level it with your finger, but don't press it down.

Why does my coffee taste bitter?

Almost always the heat. Keep it on medium-low and take the pot off the stove as soon as you hear it gurgle. Fresh coffee and a clean pot help too.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. Every moka pot has a safety valve on the bottom part that lets out extra pressure. Just never fill the water above it, and let the pot cool down before you open it.

Can I send it as a gift?

Of course. Enter their address at checkout and it ships straight to them with tracking.

How long does shipping take?

Most orders arrive within 5 to 10 business days, and every order ships free with a tracking number so you can follow it the whole way.

What if I don't like it?

You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. If it isn't right for you, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll sort out a refund.
